AI Adoption Raises Security Concerns, Survey Finds

A recent survey conducted by Insight has revealed that 81% of organizations have either established or implemented policies and strategies around generative AI or are currently in the process of doing so. While businesses are eager to adopt generative AI to enhance productivity, concerns regarding data privacy and security risks have also emerged.

The survey indicates that 72% of businesses are expected to adopt generative AI to increase their productivity. Respondents expressed intentions to leverage the technology for research and development (53%) as well as software development and testing (50%). However, the adoption of generative AI is not without its challenges.

Ninety percent of professionals believe that specific roles within their organizations will be impacted by the adoption of generative AI. Data analysts and data scientists top the list (44%), followed by software developers (37%), software testers (37%), financial operations (32%), and communications roles (30%).

Despite the enthusiasm surrounding generative AI, approximately half of the respondents expressed concerns about its implementation within their organizations. Quality and control (51%) and safety and security risks (49%) were the primary concerns raised. Additionally, 38% of respondents highlighted concerns about human error resulting from a lack of understanding in utilizing the tool or accidental breaches of their organization's data.

As organizations embrace generative AI, it becomes crucial to address these concerns and prioritize security measures. Establishing robust policies and strategies around generative AI will be essential to mitigate risks and ensure the safe and responsible use of this technology.
